Rafael Colon Castanera
(Production Manager) is in his tenth season at The Rep. Rafael most recent design credit includes Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserable for Arkansas Repertory Theatre as well as Phoenix Theatre in Arizona which earned him the two Arizoni Awards for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Wig Design. Additional Costume Design credits for The Rep include of Hello, Dolly!, The Full Monty, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Children of Eden and served as costume coordinator for The King and I. Rafael also designed the costumes for The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s A Little Night Music and My Fair Lady. Additional design credits include Cole, Sweeny Todd, Guys and Dolls, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, March of the Falsettos, Rings, Blame it on the Movies and Chicago. Prior to his move to Little Rock, Rafael was a freelance project coordinator and designer for clients such as Victoria’s Secret, Ralph Lauren-Polo, Rosie Magazine and The Warner Brothers Studio Store, where his 2000 holiday season windows ranked among the top 5 window displays by The New York Post. Prior to that, he served as general manager for Izquierdo Studio, which produces specialty costumes and props for film, television and the Broadway stage. Rafael holds a BA in theatre from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and holds an MFA in Directing Musical Theatre from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. To JDL.
